Synopsis
The case flyer deliberates on the significance of ‘self-belief ’ in being successful in life. What is the meaning of success? The meaning of success is likely to be different for different people. The author of the article enables a discussion on three important qualities in an individual that help him/her in being successful in achieving his/her dream – embracing ones uniqueness, looking beyond distractions and having a deep-rooted conviction in one’s goals. Triggered by these three qualities, the case flyer gives an opportunity to discuss various other qualities that guide a person to success. Moreover, the case flyer helps debate on the role of environment and ‘self ’ in providing a platform for success. The case flyer debates on competence vs character (attitude) in being successful, which makes it suitable for discussing the concept of ‘attitudes’ in Organizational Behavior course.

Before the Case Flyer Discussion in the Classroom
a) Before the classroom discussion, the students were asked to read Clayton M. Christensen’s article titled “How Will You Measure Your Life?” In the article, the author talks about some of the principles that will help an individual in planning out a strategy for himself/herself to be successful in life
b) The class was also asked to watch Harsha Bhogle’s speech on Excellence at IIM Ahmedabad
c) Most importantly, students were encouraged to analyse all the questions given in the case flyer (either individually or in learning teams or appropriate discussion forums) to participate effectively and enrich the learning outcomes.

I. The Meaning of Success
• The discussion began by asking a question to the class as to how many of them wanted to be successful. The obvious answer being that everyone wants to be successful, the idea behind posing this question was to define success for every individual.
• The class was asked to assume that presently they are in position ‘A’ and position ‘B’ is the state of being successful [Exhibit (TN)-I]. They were asked if they knew their respective position ‘B’s.
• This helped in starting the discussion on success and its various dimensions.
